Looking Good, Champion!

This is The Seymour Family Golf Tournament official trophy. I instructed the guy at the trophy store to put "The Seymour Family Golf Tournament" on the front and then Skippy's name on the side, to begin the tradition. Instead, he put her name on the front, and left a spot blank on the front. So.......this means that next years Seymour Family Golf Tournament will be the most competitive one of all, because we will ALL be wanting to be the second name on the front of the trophy. With that in mind, I am going to spend the entire summer putting, chipping and driving and I may even join a ladies league in Park City. This is so serious, we may even need to bring along an official score keeper, just to make sure someone...hhm hmmm (you know who you are) counts all of their balls that go into the poison ivy. With that said.... IT IS ON SEYMOUR FAMILY!!! IT'S TIME TO GRIP IT AND RIP IT!!! See you next summer....

Congratulations to the Graduate!

Congratulations to Allen, Our Masters Graduate!!!

Allen was "hooded" at the San Jose State University Hooding Ceremony this past weekend to commemorate his completion of his Masters in Urban and Regional Planning with a focus on Community Design and Development. The family converged on San Jose for this BIG EVENT!!! The ceremony was fabulous. It was held in an auditorium that looks like the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Boise, complete with fireplaces, candles and palm trees. His professor was incredibly complimentary of him and we were the proud family waving and beaming in the audience! The whole thing reminded us of THE SKULLS movie, where they are part of a secret society. The only thing missing was the branding of his wrist with a hot iron and a red Porsche parked out front. But, we enjoyed the ceremony, the delicious reception food and we especially enjoyed seeing Allen in all of his glory. Congratulations Jimmy! I am SO PROUD OF YOU!!!

Since we were all together and may not be for a while, we decided to hold the Seymour Family Golf Tournament. We drove to Cupertino and played 9 holes in a very competitive game of best hole golf. Allen received new golf clubs as his present and I have to say, the boy did well. Not better than me, however, because Squirrel, Jimmy and I all had the same stroke score, but it was Skippy who beat us all in the number of hole wins. We went to a trophy store the next day and picked out a big gold cup on a stand and are having it engraved with the winner of each Seymour Family Golf Tournament from here on out. It is hilarious and I can't wait until I win it! So, congrats Skip on your first win. After I join my ladies league in Park City this summer,.. it's on buddy!

One of our favorite things to do in San Francisco is to attend a Giants baseball game. We got SOOO lucky with great weather and were able to see my favorite little emo pitcher, Lincecum pitch! He won the the game with 5 K's. What an arm that kid has! Always such a great time at At&T Park!

After that Allen had the bright idea to drive over to the golden gate bridge to watch the sunset! We did and then walked half way across and it was beautiful. San Francisco is such a pretty city, especially at a distance. I always have fun adventures there and even if Allen gets a job in St. Louis, I am sure that I will have to go back to visit, at least to tour wine country some time!

So thank you family for the wonderful vacation! Thank you Allen and Conan for letting me stay in the poop stick! I Love you!!

P.S. My favorite horse, Shakleford, won the Preakness this past weekend. Animal Kingdom was second, just as I predicted. Now, the real handicapping starts for the Belmont. I'm not going to gamble online since that would get me in trouble with the federalies, but I may jaunt over to Wendover if the mood strikes. I'm feeling pretty lucky!

Losing Someone to a Drunk Driver

If you are going to drink-

CALL ME

CALL A TAXI

CALL A FRIEND

CALL A PARENT

WALK

TAKE A BUS

Whatever you do.... DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!!!!

And please, please, please, do not allow the people you love to drink and drive either. Take their keys, wrestle them to the ground, punch them until they're out cold, slash their tires, throw a brick through the windshield, pistol whip them in the face, have them arrested...whatever it takes. WHATEVER it takes.

Bird Nerds

My day at the Bird today is in contention for one of the best days of the season! I had just gotten to the base of P Dog to get on my first lift when I saw these fools! They all had their headphones in and couldn't hear me, so I hopped on the chair and waited for them at the top. Super Dave, C- Murder, Josh and Cory and I hit up Mineral, Provo and then the Cirque which was AWESOME!!! There is so much snow up there that I didn't even see one rock. Corona and I dropped Mach Schnell and it was great. On our way back up we saw a kicker tucked in some trees at the base of the Cirque in Chips, so we traversed over and we all hit it! It was about 25 feet and I cleared it easily both times and was thrilled! I got a grab in both times and landed cleanly. Because I just waxed with my SWIX warm temp wax I was HAULING ASS all day! These other foolios didn't have wax on and were struggling but I was going so fast I think my burn is speed rash, not a sunburn :) We found all kinds of great little hits and we all rode really well. The lifts stopped way too soon for us, we could've used a few more hours up there, it was a great, great day!

R.I.P

R.I.P Vidal Sassoon Ionic 1875.

At 2:24 Mountain Standard Time on May 14, 2011, my beloved Vidal Sassoon Ionic 1875 passed away, leaving me with a wet head, twenty minutes before work. I had a feeling something was wrong, because he had been blowing hotter than normal lately. Turns out, he was on his last hurrah. We shared thousands of hours together; writing papers, learning Arabic, drying the babies, reading, watching tv, snuggling under the covers. He had been all over the country with me and was a constant and dependable companion. So, good bye and good luck Vidal Sassoon, I will miss you.

Pre Race Wager....The Results

My Predictions for the 2011 Kentucky Derby 4:11 pm Race Day
Win- Dialed In
Place- Shakelford
Show- ArchArchArch
4th- Mucho Macho Man
5th- Nehro
6th- Pants of Fire

Trifecta + Superfecta:
1- Dialed In
2-Shakelford
3-ArchArchArch
4- Mucho Macho Man

Outside Bet:

Quinella:
Master of Hounds
Shakelford

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Ok....The race is over, and I wouldn't have made any money. I probably would have made more bets than what was above, but even then, I would not have chosen Animal Kingdom to have come in first. Below is the final results with the original odds.

30-1 Animal Kingdom- First time to race on dirt, first time with Velazquez
06-1 Nehro-Shares a Sire with Dialed In
12-1 Mucho Macho Man-Placed exactly where I expected him to
12-1 Shakelford- Should have bet on him to win. He was my favorite
30-1 Master of Hounds-Happy to see that he placed well, I liked his pedigree
30-1 Santiva
30-1 Brilliant Speed
04-1 Dialed In- Where were you buddy!?
20-1 Pants on Fire- The woman jockey. She wanted to place 4th
20-1 Twice the Appeal- Calvin Borel couldn't get Derby win #4
12-1 Soldat
20-1 Stay Thirsty- His racemate, Big Mo scratched yesterday
30-1 Derby Kitten
30-1 Decisive Moment
10-1 ArchArchArch- Hurt his ankle coming out of the gate
10-1 Midnight Interlude- High odds...came in 16th...
30-1 Twinspired
50-1 Watch Me Go
30-1 Comma to the Top

Needless to say, I was much more accurate with predicting the earlier races of the day. The Triple Crown is always incredibly hard to predict. But, I am going to just throw this out there...I won't be putting money on Animal Kingdom to win either the Preakness or Belmont. I am looking forward to next year, though. I have the yearling guide from 2009. All those ponies will be racing in the Triple Crown next year and it will be fun to follow them!

It's DERBY DAY!

It's my favorite Saturday of the year. Instead of snowboarding, I am going to drink mint juleps and handicap my own racing bets....all day! My hi-lighters and post-it notes are all ready for horse racing action! I LOVE the Kentucky Derby and cannot wait until I can go back!

Happy 5th Birthday My Sweet Baby Boys!

May 3, 2006: "What's in the Closet"

"Batman has fled the batcave! Last night Bitch relinquished her grasp on Batman. She had five altogether, three mostly black kittens and two orange garfield colored kittens. The big dominant one is one of the orange ones so I named him "Biff", like from Back to the Future. The runt is the other red head and I nicknamed him "Conan." They are sooooo cute, about the size of a mouse and fit in the palm of my hand. Bitch is such a good mother and didn't even cry."

I consider this to be the boys' "birth certificate" since it pretty much describes their birth, via Allen. It seems like yesterday that Randy and I drove 614 miles through Nevada to pick up our little pride and joy, Biff. I had a bed picked out, his name tag already made and I had even sent a baby blanket to Allen and Cathy so that he would get his smell on it and then bring it back to Las Vegas with us. It turned out that "Cow" was not wanted by the people who said they would take him, and all of a sudden, we had two sweet little boys. I renamed him Axel, from Beverly Hills Cop.

At the time, bringing two kittens into my life- my first indoor pet- was a HUGE commitment. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. I love my boys more than anything and can't imagine not having those furry faces to look at and love.

Some fun facts about my favorite boys:
  • Axel sleeps on the right side of the bed and "tries" to spoon
  • Biff sleeps under the covers and actually does spoon
  • Axel still hasn't quite figured out how to drink out of the faucet
  • Biff loves dairy- cheese, cream cheese, butter, icecream, taco bell tacos
  • Axel wants to rip down all of my trailmaps that are on my walls
  • Biff decided he didn't want to go home for Christmas one year. I made it 100 miles....
  • Axel is a pure ragdoll and feels like one too!
  • Biff loves to groom Axel, but Axel won't groom Biff
  • Biff licks any part of my body that hurts, and he knows where...
  • Axel likes cat treats, but not human food
  • Biff has learned how to print documents from my printer
  • Axel loves the cat dvd with the birds and fish on it
  • Both love to sit on my book when I'm trying to do homework
  • Biff gets mad when I sneeze
  • Axel thinks he can read
  • Both love going home to Grammie and Grampies house!!!!
